At a recent meeting of the Reveliers Toastmasters Club here in Omaha, Nebraska, the word of the day was polyglot. Traditionally, a polyglot is someone who speaks multiple languages. But as soon as I heard it, my mind went in a different direction—because in my world, polyglotism isn't just about words. It's about skills. It's about stepping into a discipline, getting your footing, and then realizing that the landscape is way bigger than you ever imagined.
